Disney on Ice

Several months ago we bought tickets to take Kaden to Disney on Ice.  We kept it a surprise and planned a date for just him.  I think I may have been more excited about it than anyone :)  On Saturday morning we showed Kaden a YouTube video of Disney on Ice and told him we were going to take him there.  I don't think he really knew what to expect.  We left the girls with Grandma for the afternoon/evening since we wanted it to be a special time for Kaden.   After taking forever to park, we managed to make it to our seats seconds before the show started.  As soon as the music started playing and lights started flashing, Kaden was hooked.  He sat on the end of his seat almost the whole time and was glued to the ice.  He LOVED it!  The only part he didn't like was when the princess skaters came out :)  When the princesses were skating, he leaned back in his chair and sighed and said, "those are for girls, Mom."   During intermission, I managed to spend $40 on needless crap, but the boy got what he wanted.  Rainbow snowcone in a Disney cup (which goes against every healthy food option I believe in), popcorn, Diet Pepsi (for Mom and Dad :), and a small souvenir Buzz Lightyear for $15- the cheapest souvenir there.  Kaden was on cloud nine.  He was so excited to have the time with just the 3 of us, as well as see all of his favorite characters skating.  He was bummed that Cars and Jake weren't there but he got over it :)

After the show we walked to Buffalo Wild Wings, a family favorite.  Kaden enjoyed some wings and was a happy boy :)  On the way home we had to stop at Target for a few things, and he picked out a few new Color Wonder craft items (can't pass up 50% off!), and got a small Toy Story Woody to go with Buzz.  He hasn't let them leave his sight since.

It was a fun afternoon and evening, and most importantly, I treasured the time with just Kaden.  It's no secret that the girls take up a lot of our time- after all, there's 2 of them.  It takes both of us to get the girls down for bed, to give them a bath, etc., and my attention is always diverted to 2 more needy toddlers during the day.  Kaden doesn't get as much one-on-one time as he used to, and I appreciated the time to make him feel special all over again.  I love my little buddy :)
