House progress

I haven't made an official blog post about the house yet, I can't believe it.  Every week we go and take pictures of the progress, and plan to make a photo book of the entire experience.  I've had lots of people asking about our progress so I thought I'd put some sneak-peaks up for you to see.  About 5 weeks left- I CAN'T WAIT!!

Kaden's favorite worker so far.  Dry waller on stilts so he can mud up the ceiling :)

Opening for the refrigerator (where the tools and box are) and the message center- by cabinets.  Hallway leads to mud room.

Kitchen cabinets are almost all done!  Waiting on custom island (wait until you see the color- you'll love it.... ok, well I know I will!) and countertops.  Cabinets are antique white with pewter glaze.

Fireplace area in family room- will have built-in book shelves on both sides.

Downstairs- bathroom, linen closet, spare bedroom opening

Downstairs bedroom #2- we'll use as an office until the girls decide they don't want to share a bedroom anymore.  We have 3 bedrooms upstairs and 2 down, so Kaden can have his own room downstairs when he wants :)

Downstairs- the door in place is Kaden's  play area under the stairs.  It's SO cute!  Open door is mechanical room.

My craft area.  This picture is for you Laura Batts :)

 Better view of the basement

The girls' room (on main level)

View of the front.  Still need to put up the stone.  Sorry for the bad view- it's rare that a truck isn't parked in front to get a good view.

I realize that I haven't shown you everything, but what fun would that be?  I have to leave your mind wondering a bit :)  We have to paint yet, floors installed, clean, etc.  Color you see on the walls is the primer color, not actually our paint color, in case you were wondering :)

Disney on Ice

Several months ago we bought tickets to take Kaden to Disney on Ice.  We kept it a surprise and planned a date for just him.  I think I may have been more excited about it than anyone :)  On Saturday morning we showed Kaden a YouTube video of Disney on Ice and told him we were going to take him there.  I don't think he really knew what to expect.  We left the girls with Grandma for the afternoon/evening since we wanted it to be a special time for Kaden.   After taking forever to park, we managed to make it to our seats seconds before the show started.  As soon as the music started playing and lights started flashing, Kaden was hooked.  He sat on the end of his seat almost the whole time and was glued to the ice.  He LOVED it!  The only part he didn't like was when the princess skaters came out :)  When the princesses were skating, he leaned back in his chair and sighed and said, "those are for girls, Mom."   During intermission, I managed to spend $40 on needless crap, but the boy got what he wanted.  Rainbow snowcone in a Disney cup (which goes against every healthy food option I believe in), popcorn, Diet Pepsi (for Mom and Dad :), and a small souvenir Buzz Lightyear for $15- the cheapest souvenir there.  Kaden was on cloud nine.  He was so excited to have the time with just the 3 of us, as well as see all of his favorite characters skating.  He was bummed that Cars and Jake weren't there but he got over it :)

After the show we walked to Buffalo Wild Wings, a family favorite.  Kaden enjoyed some wings and was a happy boy :)  On the way home we had to stop at Target for a few things, and he picked out a few new Color Wonder craft items (can't pass up 50% off!), and got a small Toy Story Woody to go with Buzz.  He hasn't let them leave his sight since.

It was a fun afternoon and evening, and most importantly, I treasured the time with just Kaden.  It's no secret that the girls take up a lot of our time- after all, there's 2 of them.  It takes both of us to get the girls down for bed, to give them a bath, etc., and my attention is always diverted to 2 more needy toddlers during the day.  Kaden doesn't get as much one-on-one time as he used to, and I appreciated the time to make him feel special all over again.  I love my little buddy :)

VHS

"Mom, what is this thing??"

I seriously can't believe he doesn't know what a VHS is.  All of the sudden, I felt really old.  I guess I can't blame him for not knowing, it's not like we even have a VCR- haha!
I bet his kids will be asking him what an Ipad is.

Kaden's first school program

A few days ago, Kaden had his first official school program.  As soon as he saw us he stopped doing the motions and stood there pretty calmly on the stage.  After the 10 minute program was done, we asked him why he did that.  He said he was embarrassed when he saw us.  Crazy kid.

Nothing but fun times

This kid makes me laugh.  Never a dull moment with Kaden around.  Especially when he plays with his toys indoors with sunglasses on :)
